Hans Wilsdorf, Rolex founder, marked the company’s seal of excellence and consistency. He created the company and ensured its future through innovative a vision and a spirit of enterprise.

Born in Bavaria in 1881, he was introduced to the watchmaking world in Switzerland at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, while the Pocket Watch is worn in every pocket, the young man begins to dream of a wristwatch and sees the enormous potential it offers. Therefore, he devoted all his energy to the realization of this dream.

In 1905, he founded in London a company specialized in the distribution of timepieces in Great Britain and in countries of the British Empire. At the same time, it seeks to master two basic concepts for the development of the wristwatch: chronometric precision and integrity.

In the 1950s, the company develops the concept of professional shows, which opened new horizons. When he died in July 1960, at the age of 79, Hans Wilsdorf leaves behind a company with strong roots, producing watches universal and timeless.

Andre J. Heiniger is the man’s Rolex expansion around the world. Boasting extensive field experience, this genuine commercial strategist will accelerate the development of business, strengthen the implementation of the company on all continents, from America to Asia, Europe in Oceania, turning it into a universal brand, one of the most prestigious watch brands in the world.

He entered the service of Rolex in 1948 at the age of 28, Andre J. Heiniger devoted his early years to develop markets and subsidiaries abroad, particularly in South America. In 1954, Hans Wilsdorf appointed him Commercial Director in Geneva. In 1963, three years after the death of the founder, he took the reins of the company. At a time where the watch industry is experiencing profound changes, he put on technological innovation while preserving the traditional values of the company. In the 1970s, Rolex participates actively in the development of the first Swiss quartz movement.

Born in Argentina in 1950, graduated in law, Patrick Heiniger is admitted to the Geneva bar in 1977 and founded its own study, specializing in international law and intellectual property.

Faithful heir to the entrepreneurial spirit that has made Rolex a trademark of exception, he married the tradition with the demands of a rapidly changing world and does not hesitate to shake habits, bringing the company into the third millennium.

In the mid-1990s, under his leadership, Rolex operates a fundamental strategic choice and opt for the vertical integration of the means of production. In 2002, continuing the philanthropic tradition of Rolex, Patrick Heiniger created artistic ‘Mentor and protege’ mentoring program, designed to help promising young artists to realize their full potential under the eye of a master in their discipline. Patrick Heiniger withdrew from the management of the company in December 2008. In 2009, four years after joining the company as Director of finance, Bruno Meier was appointed Director General of Rolex.

Born in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 1950, Bruno Meier realizes part of its studies in commerce and a debut that will allow it to acquire, through the years, a solid experience and its letters of nobility in the financial and banking areas. After a stay marked in large banking institutions, including the Chase Manhattan Bank in Geneva, he joined J.P. Morgan and Co., where he held the functions of Deputy Director-General and member of the Executive Committee in Geneva, then CEO in New York in 1986. This course continues the Bank Paribas, from 1992 to 1997, and then to the Republic National Bank of New York.

In January 2000, he joined Deutsche Bank as a Managing Director of the Swiss subsidiary and operational Director of the private global wealth management. In February 2005, Bruno Meier joined Rolex, thus putting financial talents to the service of a company that shares the long proven values of another Swiss sector of activities. Four years, he will marry the legacy of institutional experience with an entrepreneurial culture deeply rooted in the quality, the concept of service and openness to the world.
